THE PULSE OF UNITY

Join the rhythm of cultural expression where drums break barriers, voices rise in harmony, and Zimbabwe’s spirit inspires the world.

The Bulawayo Dance Expo (BuDE) is an annual celebration of dance, creativity, and cultural expression, organized to coincide with International Dance Day. Spearheaded by Drums of Peace and Ulemu Arts, BuDE brings together a dynamic community of women—drummers, musicians, visual artists, and cultural influencers—to share their talents and stories.

This year, the Expo embraces the theme: “Celebrating Sisters in Arts: Future Dancers and Musicians.” Thirty women from diverse creative fields are invited to showcase their voices, rhythms, and performances at Thabiso Youth Centre, creating a collaborative artistic experience. Live visual art sketches, drumming, mbira, and vocal performances combine to amplify women’s visibility in the arts and inspire the next generation of performers.

BuDE is more than a celebration; it’s a platform for unity, empowerment, and cultural advocacy. By highlighting the achievements and talents of women in Zimbabwean arts, the Expo fosters a sense of community, encourages mentorship, and promotes gender equality within creative industries.

Through events like BuDE, Drums of Peace continues its mission to empower communities, celebrate creativity, and preserve cultural heritage, ensuring that the arts remain a transformative force for Zimbabwean society.
