Drums of Peace is a community-driven collective using rhythm and the arts to bridge cultures, celebrate heritage, and inspire unity. Rooted in Zimbabwean traditions, we break social barriers and reshape perceptions through the universal language of the drum.

Santa Comes to Makokoba
Santa Comes to Makokoba is continuing to bring the spirit of joy and togetherness to the heart of Bulawayo’s oldest suburb. Each year, the initiative is celebrating Christmas with children between the ages of five and fifteen, offering music, carols, games, and heartfelt gifts that brighten their holiday season.
Drums of Peace founder Lewis Ndlovu is leading the ongoing effort, ensuring that the children of Makokoba experience the warmth, kindness, and magic of Christmas—many for the very first time. The project is creating moments of wonder and belonging while also teaching the value of generosity and community spirit.
Bulawayo Dance Expo
The Bulawayo Dance Expo (BuDE) is currently preparing for its annual celebration of International Dance Day, which was established in 1982 as a global tribute to the power of dance.
Spearheaded by Drums of Peace and Ulemu Arts, BuDE is bringing together a dynamic community of women—drummers, visual artists, acoustic performers, and cultural influencers—to co-create a unified artistic experience.
This year, the Expo is centering the theme “Celebrating Sisters in Arts: Future Dancers and Musicians,” and is inviting 30 women across creative sectors to showcase their voices, rhythms, and stories at Thabiso Youth Centre. As visual artists sketch live performances and musicians blend mbira, drums, and voice, BuDE is amplifying the visibility of women in the arts while nurturing unity through cultural expression.
