Kholisa!
“Kholisa” is a Zulu word meaning “enjoy” or “take delight.”
As a motto for Drums of Peace, Kholisa speaks to more than just fun—it’s an invitation to feel joy through rhythm, to connect with your spirit, and to celebrate culture with open arms. Whether it’s a child discovering their first beat or a community moving in sync, Kholisa reminds us that healing, harmony, and unity begin with joy.

An impact that resonates
Drums of Peace is a registered non profit organization.
It began with a single children’s workshop in 1996, rooted in the belief that “One day, something great will happen.” That belief has since grown into a dynamic cultural movement. Formally established in 2009, Drums of Peace nurtures artistic talent in Zimbabwe through drumming and the arts empowering children and adults, strengthening communities, and providing pathways to self-worth, sustainable income, and cultural pride.
A community-oriented organization dedicated to preserving culture through cross-cultural communication, using drumming and the arts as a form of cultural expression. By drawing on indigenous traditions and personal strengths, it breaks barriers created by caste, colour, and creed. The organization fosters cooperation, collaboration, and community resource-building in relation to the wider society, aiming to transform negative impressions of Zimbabwe into positive ones. This approach empowers individuals, strengthens communities, and allows the world to witness and embrace the spirit of the Zimbabwean people, encouraging a resurgence of creativity, solidarity, and sustainable tourism.
