“Kholisa” is a Zulu word meaning “enjoy” or “take delight.”
As a motto for Drums of Peace, Kholisa speaks to more than just fun—it’s an invitation to feel joy through rhythm, to connect with your spirit, and to celebrate culture with open arms. Whether it’s a child discovering their first beat or a community moving in sync, Kholisa reminds us that healing, harmony, and unity begin with joy.
An impact that resonates
Drums of Peace is a registered non-profit organization.
It began with a single children’s workshop in 1996, rooted in the belief that “One day, something great will happen.” That belief has since grown into a dynamic cultural movement. Formally established in 2009, Drums of Peace nurtures artistic talent in Zimbabwe through drumming and the arts—empowering children and adults, strengthening communities, and providing pathways to self-worth, sustainable income, and cultural pride.
Through cross-cultural communication and creative expression, we draw on indigenous traditions and personal strengths to break down barriers of caste, color, and creed. Using the universal language of the drum, we foster cooperation, collaboration, and positive identity—both within Zimbabwe and on the global stage. Our vision encourages renewed creativity, community confidence, and sustainable tourism that reflects the vibrant spirit of Zimbabwe.
