Every year, Drums of Peace brings magic and hope to underprivileged children through its heartfelt community programme, “Santa Comes to Makokoba.” Launched in 2017, the initiative started as a simple Christmas party for 40 children and has since grown to support over 300 children, including those with disabilities, in Makokoba and surrounding communities.
The programme’s mission is simple yet powerful: to provide a safe, nurturing space where children can learn, play, and grow. Beyond the festive celebrations, the initiative focuses on education, arts, and personal development, empowering children with skills, confidence, and opportunities they might not otherwise access.
Through donations, sponsorships, and partnerships with well-wishers, “Santa Comes to Makokoba” continues to expand its reach, ensuring that even during challenging times—like the COVID-19 pandemic—children and families receive support. The initiative also raises community awareness about the needs of vulnerable children, fostering collective action and solidarity.
By combining cultural expression, mentorship, and community care, this programme does more than celebrate Christmas—it creates lasting impact, nurtures young talent, and inspires hope for the next generation.
